BuchtitelEarly this year a mostly bilingual book was completed with the title “Durben - Family Tree and History of our Family - Stammbaum und Geschichte unserer Familie”. It comprises of 300 pages with 136 pictures and portrays the result of decade ongoing researches.

The book goes back in time to a family Durben in the 17th century that then lived in the village of Wüstleimbach, nowadays known as Hohenleimbach. The village belongs to the parish of Kempenich to the north west of the Laacher Lake. The first official documents go back until 1685. Here the brothers Arendt (=Arnold) and Andris (=Andreas) are noted as the purchasers in a deed which was found by chance.

All male and female descendants of this family were researched and presented in the above-mentioned book. The present database amounts to 3300 straight descendants with data of more than 1400 spouses and partly their parents. If known, particulars about occupation circumstance and of late also about interests were recorded. Graphical summaries were created for the first 7 generations that are completed with more than 100 photos.

The book was officially presented at the family meeting on Sunday the 16th of April 2000 in Nickenich via slide show. At this time orders could be placed.

There are two editions of the book available that are distinguished by the binder:

  • Paperback edition
  • ½  Fabric binding with emboss on the back

Over and above one can order a CD to the book that contains the complete book including the first amendment as well as free software and much data.
